If an indivdual is disqualified for unemployment benefits, 21 V.S.A Chapter 16A provides temporary partial wage replacement to indivduals who must leave employment, without good cause attributable to the employer, because of circumstances directly resulting from domestic violenece, sexual assault, or stalking.
Any time an individual is disqualified for regular unemployment benefits and it is known to the Department of Labor that domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking may have resulted in the individual ending his or her employment, eligibilty for this wage replacement is automatically explored. If you feel you might be eligible for these benefits and have been disqualified for unemployment benefits, please call our Unemployment Claims Center's Manager at 802-828-9129 or the Director of the Unemployment Insurance and Wage Division at 802-828-4242.
