While you are unemployed, it’s possible you could be eligible for training. To explore potential training opportunities, please visit your nearest VDOL Resource Center. In many cases, there may be funding to assist you with training. If you are considering pursuing a degree, you should also know about the Federal Pell Grants. Further information about Pell Grants is provided to your right under Related and External Links.
The Resource Center can assist you with the following:
§ Determine the types of training for which you are best suited for, which may or may not include a degree program;
§ Conduct skill assessments;
§ Provide information on training and course opportunities, career guidance, and labor market information;
§ Assist in strategically choosing training that prepares you for job openings in your local economy, and assist in obtaining funding for that training;
§ Refer you to other agencies or resources as needed;
§ Assist you with use of VDOL computers to either secure more information related to training and/or Pell Grants or print/complete a FAFSA application;
§ Facilitate completion of Request for Waiver of the Availability for Work Requirement Based upon Participation in Approved Training, form B-130.
