Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation: The agreement provided an additional $600 for each weekly claim to all UI claimants, including those not previously eligible (i.e. Self-Employed). In effect for claims for the week ending April 4, 2020 through July 25, 2020.
Update: As a reminder to claimants, Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) ended on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Should individuals need to file for back weeks, they may still be eligible to receive FPUC. Should further updates on FPUC become available, the Department of Labor will update the information on this page and communicate out to claimants.
What to know about FPUC ending
- Claimants will receive state and federal benefits for the week ending July 25 no later than the week ending August 1 (this will likely include the $600 benefit)
- Claimants will continue to receive state benefits, but must continue to file their weekly claim

Tuesday, August 11: On Saturday, August 8, the President issued a memorandum which included a section relating to unemployment insurance, allowing a supplemental benefit to eligible claimants (in addition to the calculated state weekly benefit amount). At this time, the Department is reviewing the memorandum and is expecting to receive further guidance from the federal government to properly interpret the implementation of the additional benefit, as well as exploring funding options. Claimants do not need to do anything additional and should continue to file weekly claims for each week they are unemployed. Monday, August 25: Governor Phil Scott announced that Vermont had secured funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program.
