Unemployment Insurance for Former Federal Employees, Contractors, and Other Workers
Federal civilian employees who become unemployed due to no fault of their own can apply for Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE). Other workers who become unemployed due to no fault of their own, such as employees who worked for a private sector employer that was contracted with the federal government, may be eligible for regular unemployment insurance.
Individuals can apply for unemployment insurance by a calling the UI Claims Center at 1-877-214-3330 (Monday – Thursday: 8:30am - 4:00pm / Friday: 9:00am - 4:00pm).
- Please note: If you have not yet received separation paperwork, such as the Standard Form-8 (SF-8) and Standard Form-50 (SF-50), you can still apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
