On Saturday, August 8, the President issued a memorandum which included a section relating to unemployment insurance, allowing a supplemental benefit to eligible claimants (in addition to the calculated state weekly benefit amount).
At this time, the Department is reviewing the memorandum and expects to receive further guidance from the federal government to properly interpret the implementation of the additional benefit, as well as exploring funding options.
Claimants do not need to do anything additional and should continue to file weekly claims for each week they are unemployed. Additional information will be shared on social media and at Labor.Vermont.gov as it becomes available.
