Vermont Labor Department Wraps Up Successful Fall Job Fest Series
Montpelier, VT – The Vermont Department of Labor has concluded its annual outdoor Fall Job Fest Series, connecting nearly 1,000 job seekers with 130 employers statewide. Held in locations from Lyndon Center to Bennington, the events showcased a wide range of career opportunities across Vermont.
“The Department continues to see the positive impact that in-person job fairs have on communities,” said Michael Harrington, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Labor. “Events like the Fall Job Fest play a crucial role in supporting Vermont’s economy and helping Vermonters find meaningful work.”
Highlights of the series included the Rutland event, where 150 job seekers engaged with 44 employers, and in Bennington, where 125 attendees, including some from out-of-state, connected with 41 employers. The largest turnout was at Lyndon Center, where more than 50 employers and 521 job seekers—300 of whom were students—explored new opportunities. The series concluded in White River Junction, where 125 job seekers engaged with 22 employers. Several event locations also provided a unique opportunity for participants from neighboring states to explore career options in Vermont.
“The weather was fabulous, and everyone was in great spirits. Employers even expressed their appreciation for the small details that made these events successful,” shared Wendy Morse, regional manager of the Southwest region. Employers noted that this series attracted a higher pool of quality candidates, which included on-the-spot interviews for various positions. Each event also featured resources from community partners, including flood recovery assistance for those affected by the July 2024 flood in the Northeast Kingdom.
