Vermont Short-Term Supplemental Benefit Update ($100 Benefit)

November 5, 2020

The Vermont Short Term Supplemental (VSTS) Benefit provided an additional $100 per week to claimants for up to five weeks. Based on claim volume and funding availability, we are excited to announce that the $17,000,000 allocation will allow us to fund the program for the full five weeks.

Claimants will receive a single check in the mail with the total amount representing each week the claimant was found eligible. Claimants must have filed a weekly claim and have been paid benefits for one or more of the benefit weeks ending October 3rd, October 10th, October 17th, October 24th, and October 31st.

Filing for the fifth week of the program ends on November 6th. Once filing has closed, the Department will review the claims and will process the supplemental benefit for eligible claimants between November 9th – 13th.

As a reminder to claimants, there is no additional action you need to take at this time. This program is administered independently from other supplemental federal benefit programs and is a direct benefit administered by the State.

Eligible claimants will receive an email notifying them when payment has processed. Claimants should allow for 5-7 days for the check to be received once they receive this notice. This benefit is subject to both state and federal income tax and must be reported by the beneficiary.

Sincerely,

Michael Harrington
