ALERT: UI System Outage Updates (12/24/20)

December 24, 2020

UPDATED AT 12:00 PM (Noon) on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2020:

The tech team that has been working to rerun the jobs and processes in the UI mainframe has experienced delays with these actions. Because of these delays, it is likely that no regular UI or PEUC payments will be issued today due to the banking deadline. This predominantly will impact individuals who filed their weekly claim on Wednesday, December 24th. Payments related to Wednesday filings are now expected to be processed on the next available business-day, which would be Monday, December 28, 2020. Barring any further delays, claimants who filed on Wednesday should received their direct deposit payments 24-48 hours after processing. Check payments will take 4-6 days to be received.

UPDATED AT 10:30 AM ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2020:

The UI Mainframe was purposefully taken offline this morning in order to rerun a processing job that failed overnight. The rerunning of this process will ensure that payments can be processed before the end of today. This system outage restricts the ability for staff at the call center to complete actions in the system, but claimants can still file their weekly claims through the regular UI claimant portal or over the automated phone system.  This issue does not impact claimants filing in the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program.

The Department expects the UI mainframe to be back online before 12 PM (Noon) today, at which time, call center staff can resume assisting claimants.

UPDATED AT 4:25 PM ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2020:

The technical difficulties in our UI system have now been resolved. There were approximately 15,000 claims filed on Monday (December 21) and Tuesday (December 22) that were impacted as a result from the system issue. Payments are expected to be paid out tomorrow, December 24, 2020.

Technical difficulties with the regular UI system have been resolved. In an effort to process as many payments as possible for claimants ahead of the Christmas holiday, the system will be offline until  Wednesday afternoon to allow for planned payment processing.

Nearly 15,000 payments were impacted as a result of the system issue. Only claimants filing weekly claims in the regular UI system were impacted, as this issue did not impact PUA claimants.

Further updates will be provided to claimants by email and on the Department’s website.
What this means for Claimants

  •  If you filed a weekly claim on Monday (December 21) or Tuesday (December 22) and have not yet received your weekly payment, this likely means that your payment will be processed today (December 23) .
  •  If you have not yet filed your weekly claim, you can still do so through the automated claims filing line by calling 800-983-2300, or by logging into your account on the Online Claimant Portal.
  •  If you have an outstanding issue on your claim that needs to be resolved, the Claimant Assistance Center may not be able to assist you until the system is brought back online later this afternoon.

Further updates and information will be provided at Labor.Vermont.gov.

22 December 2020

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our regular UI system.  If you are expecting to receive a weekly benefit payment tomorrow (December 23), your payment will be delayed. At this time, we are working to resolve the issue and will provide a email updates as more information becomes available.
