May Job Fests continue in Middlebury, Bennington

May 23, 2022

Middlebury, Vt. – The Vermont Department of Labor’s series of May Job Fest hiring events continued in Middlebury last Thursday, bringing together employers from across southwestern Vermont to highlight career opportunities.

More than 50 employers, including Porter Medical Center, Danforth Pewter, Dairy Farmers of America, Casella, and more from Addison County and the local region participated in the second Job Fest event this month. With rain storms moving through the area for much of the afternoon, the event was moved indoors to the Middlebury Parks and Recreation building. Amid these non-ideal weather conditions, more than 60 jobseekers still came out to tour the event. More than 250 total job seekers have now attended Job Fest events, with a previous event being held on May 3 in Rutland.

“These are important events to highlight not only the need that employers have for workers, but the quality of jobs available to jobseekers across the state," said VDOL spokesperson Kyle Thweatt.

The third and final Job Fest will be held tomorrow, May 24, from 11am – 2pm in Bennington. In coordination with the Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce and HireAbility, May Job Fest: Bennington take place on the lawn at Deer Park (353 North Street, Bennington, VT 05201). As with previous Job Fests, the event is free and open to all interested in learning more about regional and local career opportunities and resources.
