State Holiday

OFFICES CLOSED for State Holiday (Independence Day)

The Vermont Department of Labor offices, including the UI Claimant Assistance Center and local Job Centers, will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Note: If the holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed on the preceding Friday; if it falls on a Sunday, it is observed on the following Monday. The Department will resume regular business hours on the next business day after the observance.

  • You can still file your claim online, but due to the holiday, you may experience a minor delay in payment.
  • UI Claimants should expect high call volumes and longer-than-usual wait times on the next business day after the holiday observance. To avoid long wait times, you are encouraged to call either later in the day or later in the week. If you need to contact the UI Claimant Assistance Center to file your weekly claim, you have until Friday at 4 p.m. to do so.
  • Regularly scheduled virtual workshops will not be held.
  • Individuals may contact the Workforce Development team through the Job Seeker Inquiry Form or by calling a local job center directly.

The Vermont Department of Labor offices, including the UI Claimant Assistance Center and local Job Centers, will be closed on the last Monday of May in observance of Memorial Day. The Department will resume regular business hours on the next business day.

To avoid long wait times, you are encouraged to call either later in the day or later in the week. The Vermont Department of Labor offices, including the UI Claimant Assistance Center and local Job Centers, will be closed in observance of New Years on Monday, January 1, 2024. The Department will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

  • If you file your claim online, you will still be able to do so but will experience a minor delay in payment due to the holiday.
  • The UI Claimant Assistance Center will also be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024, and will reopen Tuesday, Tuesday, January 2, 2024, for regular business hours. Claimants should expect high call volume on Wednesday morning with longer than usual wait times. To avoid long wait times, you are encouraged to call either later in the day, or later in the week. If you need to contact the UI Claimant Assistance Center to file your weekly claim, you have until Friday at 4pm to file.
  • Local Job Center locations in Vermont will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024, and will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Individuals may contact the Workforce Development team through the Job Seeker Inquiry form, or by calling a local job center directly.

  • The UI Claimant Assistance Center will also be closed on Monday, December 25, 2023, and will reopen Tuesday, December 26, 2023, for regular business hours.
